Over the past two weeks, I, along with members of the ASD team, had the privilege of talking to communities about the Community Input Process. As guests at meetings held by Stand for Children-Tennessee, Memphis LIFT, and the Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO), we’ve had the opportunity to talk to students, parents, clergy, and other invested groups about their school choice options.
Mitch was a truly amazing man. His dedication to his family, his community, and to all kids across Memphis demonstrate a compassion, selflessness, and relentlessness that will not be forgotten. His joyful spirit and legacy will live on with the individuals he’s touched and through the seeds he sowed as an advocate for quality schools for all children.
We worked with parents and stakeholders to create the new school conversion process, one that is designed to elevate the voice of parents in helping operators shape a model that will best serve a school community.
