Three weeks ago we launched three charter Requests for Proposals for schools opening in 2015 and beyond. In the time since, we have been contacted by numerous individuals and groups interested in joining us in meeting the needs of students across Tennessee. We are excited about the energy and enthusiasm going into this year’s authorization process and look forward to receiving excellent proposals in the months to come.

The ASD has a high bar for charter authorization, and we encourage applicants to seek out every resource available to them as they prepare their plans.  Additionally, the ASD provides several avenues of support throughout this RFP process, including:

  • Forms and Templates: All documents related to the Intent to Apply and each of the three RFPs can be found on the Box.  To receive notifications about any additions to the portal, click on the “Join Folder to Get Updates” and enter your email address.
  • Trainings: Our first webinar on completion of the mandatory Intent to Apply documentation was Feb. 12. If you missed the training or want to review the information again, you can access the presentation HERE. The next webinar, which will provide information on the RFP content and evaluation process, including a brief discussion of the capacity interviews, is Wednesday, March 12 at 3 p.m. Central. Click HERE to participate.
  • Office Hours: If you need additional in-person support, you can set up a time to talk to me. Click HERE to view my schedule and make a request. I am happy to support you however I can.

As always, you can email me questions at akucaj@tnasd.org, and visit achievementschooldistrict.org for regular updates.
